There is something very special about working with the only extant copy of an #EarlyModern book; even more so when it’s heavily used and repaired. What a lovely way to spend a Monday!

Unfortunately the book is not digitized and I can’t share my images. But picture a hand-sized octavo volume with a liberally underlined preface that contains instructions for celebrating worship and lots of notated music.

Hello All,

this will be the first of two #introduction s. The one in which I am an #earlymodern #histodon – one of the #earlymodons (emphasis on "ly") that is.

I do research, teach and care for my students at RWTH Aachen University.

My interests are in the #reformazing history of cities, earlymodern #urbanhistory, #historyofknowledge and especially cultures and religious knowledge of early modern artisans.

I'm also a nerd with a family, hobbies and political opinions. More about that later.
