Input/output performance on Windows is terrible. #NTFS is just incredibly slow at certain operations. Dev Drive is a specialized disk, partition, or virtual disk image using #ReFS; a more modern copy-on-write filesystem. Microsoft claims I/O bound build operations could be up to 30 % faster. It probably won’t help with my NVMe SSD overheating issues, though. (Unless it’s massively RAM-backed.) #WindowsInsider

I do, of course, have neurotic-grade backups of everything I do just in case.
Gonna install Debian and then detail the install process.
