They use way more energy than a simple Internet search. Just have it respond to every query with "That's a great question, but what about the looming climate disaster or the ever increasing threat of nuclear war?"
I think about the Thoreau quote "Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys which distract our attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which it was already but too easy to arrive at."

The #hazards are significant. #Refuse has really poor #structural qualities. People are #killed every year when the hole they're digging in a landfill while looking for #valuables collapses.

For me, it seems to come down to the #difference between #selling something (goods, service) vs being paid to #create something.
You run a hotel, offering rooms for money. Can't #refuse someone based on their race, sexuality, etc.
But you offer to create something new for people - I don't think you should be #forced to accept every #customer.
The first is selling. The second is effectively refusing an offer of #employment.

You can smell the area from far and we've the windows shut because of the stench.
Since the county is doing as landlord fuck all can we contact someone else?
(Not knocking anyone just want to get rid of the refuse/stench)

Because "production" always produces things (called negative externalities) that impact the purchasing #public long after production, that simply don't get counted as an expense of production. #Heat. #CO2. #Refuse. #Toxins. #Depression. Etc. You will never see these expenses of production on the product label, because those things, are the "profit" we ALLOW the capitalists to pocket.
