Are you telling me #Philadelphia has a #crossrail tunnel for it's regional/commuter rail services, and uses it to have the trains just go to the "other" terminal before ending, and doesn't actually do through-running suburb-to-suburb lines?

Metro Los Angeles' Regional Connector opens in two weeks. It has the potential to be a transformative project, allowing run-through service without needing to transfer downtown. The Link Union Station project has the potential of being similarly transformative for Metrolink, enabling run-through service as we move from the concept of "commuter rail" to "regional rail".

I've regrettably been slow to learn about modern #regionalrail, only first learning about it in 2019 thanks to RPA's Fourth Regional Plan, taking inspiration from RER & Transilien.

I'm convinced now that Platform F at Jamaica was a waste, and that money would've been better spent towards cross-platform transfers at Lynbrook or Valley Stream (giving Babylon riders an easier transfer to Atlantic trains there instead of Jamaica), while keeping through-running Atlantic trains

For all its flaws, #GrandCentralMadison has allowed me to take the 🚆 to work on office days much more often than in time past.

We still have a ways to go as far as transit improvements go, from #6MinuteService on the NYC subway to #RegionalRail on MNR/LIRR.
