An important leg, Glass-Steagall, which #regulated #banks was partially #repealed under #clinton. Within a decade, the #greatrecession hit. This was not a #coincidence. Every #economic system requires some degree of #regulation to operate optimally. #doddfrank was a step in the right direction, but IMO somewhat more is required.

Kangaroo #slaughter companies are finally being brought to heel for their inhumane treatment of #Australia's iconic wildlife, by American states #banning product imports. #Europe is also discussing a ban across the entire zone.
The "highly #regulated" industry finds it completely okay to take a tiny joey and #kill it by #smashing it against a truck.
Sadly, so do our #governments. All of them. In fact there are no checks and controls on #slaughterers. They work alone in the dark with no supervision ever.
#Kangaroos killed for human consumption and pet food are shot in the bush and can be #unrefrigerated from 4pm one day until 7am the next. Temperatures at night can stay at over 30 degrees Celsius.
The #shooters start their nights buying a case of beer. They drink all night and drive around paddocks, then to a processing plant, up to 150km away in our area, along highways used by #human #families.
At foot joeys that escape are left to starve to death. In pouch joeys are killed as described above.
Single #shot kills are rare. An animal that hasn't been killed by a single shot is often #butchered in the field, still alive.. The joeys can hear that happening. A single shot is what is required under the code of #practice governing their behaviour.

While I dislike what’s happening at the company, I’m trying not to vilify him mostly because I think of how we’re treated by #allistics. I’d rather he get #support and be better #regulated. It seems here is #Aoteaora we have a #leadpoisoning issue. Because #lead is not #regulated here at all really. It's perfectly legal to use lead in anything and everything. Legally companies don't have to get anything tested if they don't want to. So we have become a dumping ground for lead products.
Don't tell me this fuckin country is progressive.
