Though I posted this morning on Lemmy, I wrote an article to #ReimagineSocial before: https://fedi.foundation/2022/09/social-networking-reimagined
Here the focus is on Social experience design (SX) and App-Free Computing (the modular services idea).
@chris I call what we do "social networking" and involving the full range of activities humans are involved in, and also doing them online. "Social Media" imho gives too much association with corporate platforms that decidedly do not have a "netto social" effect on society (the opposite rather, they serve erode the social fabric of society).
I think what we are doing is to #ReimagineSocial .. wrote something about that last year: https://fedi.foundation/2022/09/social-networking-reimagined
Stop drawing dead fish ๐
Or the corporates take over ๐ฃ
Blow your own mind ๐คฏ
Get creative ๐จ
Think out of the box ๐ฆ
Fedi isn't just microblogging ๐๏ธ
Ditch that thought pattern ๐ค
There's more than toots ๐
And likes and the like ๐
There's an offline world ๐
Badly connect to online realm ๐
A universe of possibility โจ
So many apps to make social ๐ค
And weave together as one ๐งฌ
Let's #ReimagineSocial ๐งช

Let's do as https://mercuryos.com but for fedi
@jackwilliambell as Helge says may be worthwhile to hop onto fediverse-ideas.
Moving in the direction of a more task & service oriented fedi. A paradigm of #AppFreeComputing as Chris Gebhardt of infocentral.org coined it. Beyond app-silo's. But that's just the technical side.
Overall we might #ReimagineSocial and get rid of the shallow notion of #social which corporate #SocialMedia engagement platforms have hammered into us. Then we get to a #Peopleverse.

@ekes preferences for different use cases of social networking technology on the #Fediverse vary wildly.
And I am sure that corporations in general would prefer influencer-type engagement platforms, because they are commercially more attractive.
Imho it may lead to missed opportunities to do #Social differently this time, more in line with human-scale activity.
But if people / companies want to pursue that direction they are free to do so. I'd like to #ReimagineSocial

The focus on #Mastodon causes everyone to think of fedi in terms of #Twitter alternative and desiring similar features.
Mastodon made #Fediverse popular, and reaso it is going mainstream now. But it being a #microblogging app, and sticking to that project direction is also what is hampering the full potential of the fedi to be unleashed. It is limiting people's imagination.
I wrote an article about #ReimagineSocial and this idea of #Peopleverse

If you want to bring change to that barriers need to be taken away. There should be support at a socio-technological level that makes things more tightly connected into the social fabric of the Fediverse.
That's possible. I've been advocating for a "Community has no Boundary" concept that makes community + relationships between them and people native fedi citizens.
We must #ReimagineSocial build a #Peopleverse

I wrote something about this here: https://fedi.foundation/2022/09/social-networking-reimagined/
Let's #ReimagineSocial and be part of a #Peopleverse
I chose "Don't care" as I feel the versioning of the webs and fedi's is BS.
Fedi is an organic thing, and it matures, has flavors, branches and variations. I have zero affinity with Web3. There's no relation now, and if they come they aren't for me.
I'm interested to help #ReimagineSocial and establish a veritable #Peopleverse here on the fediverse.
