While she ultimately decided not to represent my work, my interaction with Jemiscoe Chambers Black was a delight from beginning to end. If someone can tell you “no” in a way that makes you respect them even more, they’ve got The Right Stuff. I’m hoping I can place a future project with her!

Visiting the #Dante museum in #florence today was a lovely experience, not least because I discovered he only started writing the Divine Comedy in his 40s. Life is longer than the three #rejections from #writing competitions I received within the past 24 hours. 😆

Ten #rejections for writing submissions in one day is my new record. I received form rejections for two batches after wait times of 90 and 172 days.

When I saw the emails, I felt like crud. Considered giving up on submissions forever. Took a nap. Felt better on waking up. Updated my spreadsheets.

#Writers: So, there are *lots* of #workshops and online communities serving the gentle, extremely supportive tone that many tentative beginners need.

I'm interested in a #community, online or in-person, that meets regularly, is for more established and more confident writers, offers informed #criticism and helps with #accountability. I'm thinking it should probably also require #publication credits or large numbers of #rejections as a membership requirement.

Does such a place exist?
