Is that tied into rejection sensitivity for you all as well? For me, I sometimes catch myself aiming for perfection to avoid criticism (in what I'm coming to realize was rejection sensitivity).

@ashleyspencer @actuallyautistic unmasking is complex particularly if it's unconscious, but it's helped me to learn that a lot of unmasking is just not trying to compensate as much and allowing yourself to be how you are without pretending you got that joke or that you heard what they said with all that background noise, etc.

however if you have #RejectionSensitivity this is a lot harder than it sounds.

Anyone else chastised for “not staying in touch” with family? Only to have family ask “who is this”? Then to have them not recognize you to the point of you questioning if you’re related to them? My 2 uncles, and a cousin all asked “who are you?” today. I am done socializing with them until next thanksgiving. Every year my family asks “who is that”. #ActuallyAutistic #RejectionSensitivity
