#introduction post!

I'm Matt, a mid-30s #melbourne local who migrated from #sydney half a decade ago. I'm cis, #gay, and use he/him.

I'm a musically oriented person, I sing in a community #choir, get obsessed with #soundtracks and #musicals, and possess a reasonable baritone voice. I've also dabbled in #piano and #guitar.

A recent and overlapping interest in #language came with my hubby and I learning #german about 3 years ago. I found it fascinating learning not just a language, but #grammar and some #linguistics at the same time (which Australian primary education completely ignores, we stop with grammar somewhere near "a verb is a doing word"). Have completed A2 level, and really feel that my musical ear assisted me a lot in hearing and reproducing the rhythm and pitch of the language.

I enjoy #reading, mostly #scifi and #fantasy. I embarked on #wheeloftime two years ago and am about to start book 9! Taking a break to read a bit of other stuff before I start that though.

I love #food and #cooking, and have in the past explored lots of complex #glutenfree baking projects through necessity (I'm diagnosed #coeliac).

I work in #software development for an Aussie company who is a strong player in the #devops and #releaseautomation space.
