They have freed themselves from one teacher and have gone to another; they have merely transferred themselves from one cage to another. But if you do not seek comfort, if you continually question - and you can question only when you are in revolt - then you establish freedom from all teachers and all religions; then you are supremely human, belonging neither to a party nor to a religion nor to a cage.

This is an absolute utter disgrace, a catholic clinic has refused to treat a 14 year old girl's ADHD; all because she is #trans.

This is very worrying, & goes against what the #USA constitution is meant to represent. #religious #fundamentalism in no way lends itself to a fair democratic society. It promotes the erosion of people's rights (especially women) & a dumbing down of the populace, religion can only thrive in the vacuum of ignorance. I've been noticing a rise in #Christian / #religious instances, several claiming to be #catholic or orthodox, with lots of users identifying as holiatic healers and moms of #autistic children, and it looks like an organised desinformation effort. Something really fishy going on in the #fediverse

WashPost op-ed: "I’m no longer #religious . But I still want #church." In this column the author wishes for the social connectedness of church w/o the metaphysical beliefs.

"My upbringing makes me particularly inclined to see a church-sized hole in American life. But as a middle-aged American in the middle of the country, I don’t think that hole is just in my imagination. Kids need places to learn values like forgiveness, while schools focus on math and reading. Young adults need places to meet a potential spouse.
