The Holy Thorn Reliquary
Enamelled gold, sapphires, rubies & pearls, Paris ca. 1400
Contains a thorn supposedly from the Crown of Thorns placed on Christ’s head before the crucifixion. Made in 1400s for Jean, duc de Berry. Later belonged to Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in 1544.
