The EU is becoming 'a more cohesive entity in more areas where members pool their sovereignty. The union may find it useful to be more creative about British association, but always on its own terms. The UK may one day finally accept the role of a rule taker to join the single market, only to find that, like in Norway’s case, that is no longer enough' but requiring continued legislative convergence!

On one hand, the continued uncertainty about #farm support payments ins a concern as #foodsecurity slowly works its way up the political agenda...

On the other, many #remainers will take some solace from a key group (and round here a very publicly active group) of #brexiters - #farmers - have found that the sunny uplands have failed to materialise (as they were warned they wouldn't).

Curtice now notes that the imminent supermajority for remain/rejoin will come not from old leave voters "ageing out" (dying), but rather that they've changed their minds en masse. As @davidallengreen argues today, rejoining the #EU is not a simple case of #remainers willing it, or winning over a majority of voters to the case that #Brexit was a mistake;

Equally (of course) the willingness of the EU, its governing institutions & state members to agree any future application to join (directly or via membership of the #singlemarket), is key!.

Put yourself in their shoes, look at UK domestic politics & you know they will be (at the very least) reticent to welcome us back!
