Got one of these cheap WIZ ESP remotes for Amazon to play with the new beta 4 features.

Pairing was super easy but they seem to struggle with interferences if you are close to your access point 😄 Have to investigate that 🧐

RemoteID is a FAA equipment required of remote controlled toys >250g (model aircraft, quad, drone). It broadcasts your location and is collected by gov contractors for surveillance. While RemoteID is federally mandated, there is no real-time enforcement as local authorities are actually busy with real crime. All that remains is moar gov surveillance.

First version of remote control done: Infrared.

It works very good, and decodes the signals almost every time even when the receiver is facing the opposite direction. I would've thought it worse.

Nevertheless, I already plan on replacing it with Bluetooth or WiFi, since I don't want to put a hole into the final case for the receiver. I'll already have to modify it for the planned collision sensors.

Hooray! One step I skipped was linking the remote to the receiver. This is super-easy and the nice thing is that you can use it in momentary, toggle or latching modes, and also can link up to 10 remotes to the same chip. Cool!

So there is it, cheap remote control of low voltage electronics.

I love a bit of a project, so here chronicles a foray into of low-voltage electonics.

Mrs @dn_mason bought a handful of these LED flickering lamps, which give quite a nice ambience but need to be switched on and off at the base with a simple slide switch.
