"cpu" - a command that literally warps a local and a remote host, providing on demand files and executables, even on different architectures, super memory efficient. Perfect for embedded systems development. Originally from Plan 9, now available for Linux thanks to the u-root project. I am totally speechless contemplating this.

See book.linuxboot.org/cpu/ and the talks at github.com/u-root/cpu

Standup on my couch, working without anyone interrupting and listening to my favourite music without headphones, dropping and picking up kids from school, having lunch with my wife… no way I will go back full time to the office

really is great but I struggle with whether or not it saves money. A person still needs a system to access the remote resource at all and the remote resource must be powerful enough for multiple people. Instead of paying once every few years for hardware you pay it many times over every year.

OH: " is quickly taking over as an alternative to , and the model seems to be the most compelling version of this. An engineering team can easily double the memory capacity of their team’s , but doubling their laptop memory is excessively expensive."
