Allowing states to negotiate #geoengineering (#removals) as a way to gain credits at #COP27 is a big red flag.

Most geoengineering proposals are untested, and risk permanently polluting the earth. There are some ocean seeding proposals that would destroy oceanic chemistry. They are currently banned by treaties for good reason.

They would also be a great way to cut off demands for debt relief and redistribution while maintaining the capitalist economy by claiming to 'fix' #climatechange

#COP27 is already backtracking on any hope of real climate progress, although #lossanddamage discussions are huge.

A key part of the early negotiations are #removals and #offsets - can countries get credits for geoengineering (HOLY SHIT THAT WOULD BE BAD) or planting forests (good)

In short, a lot of various solutions that aren't actually decreasing carbon emissions.
