According to Feargal Sharkey my water provider Anglian Water paid £4.6 billion to shareholders between 2012 and 2022.

But you will find no mention of that in the BBC’s ‘balanced’ reporting on the funding of Anglian’s very belated infrastructure project to keep the taps on in the East.

Privatisation created monopolies in water industry which were a license to print money for shareholders. Make it stop.

When a company goes bust, the administrators sell it or its assets for as much as they can get, & pay the creditors what they can. The creditors have to write off the rest.

So why is it rumoured that if Thames Water goes bust, the govt will honour its debts?

I don't remember billionaires being a thing in the '70s.

Now we pay for hundreds of them. They don't actually DO very much. We do all the work. Just like CEOs of all the privatised services. They rake in millions, while we do without to pay their extortionate bills.

So apparently #energy bills are going to be hiked by another 40% while energy companies' profits have been tripled, despite wholesale gas prices nosediving from 640p/therm last August to 147p today. If the government won't impose windfall taxes or #renationalise utilities, there are other ways. Just sayin'.

We’re at a cross roads: the #UK #government is corrupt, loathed and ready to fall. Even their cronies at The Mail and Sun can’t spin fast enough to save them.
