For fun, here's a 2 MegaWatt-class turbine placed on the commons of the downtown #McGillUniversity campus. Such a turbine has a hub height of 98 meters, and would generate electricity for 100 to 200 homes.
For comparison, the Place Ville Marie tower is 188 meters tall.

The tower is off to the side to avoid the underground commuter rail tunnel and the views of the mountain.

BTW, this idiocy is largely limited to this side of the Atlantic. In Europe they understand they need to build #renewablenergy, and fast. That's why the European Commission recently approved emergency measures to shorten permitting timelines while they work out the details. The longer-term version of reform includes "positive silence" which works like the "builder's remedy": failure by authorities to meet deadlines means your project is approved. /8

@jfslowik Please explain me how it's #FreeMarket, when #government #regulation subsidizes UNRELIABLE ("#unreliables") #RenewablEnergy sources, (creating SURPLUS of them - more instances than it would be in the real free market without government intervention), and at the same time creating SHORTAGE of RELIABLE #FossilFuels, #nuclear sources by demotivating investments in them via #taxes and other policies.
