True Repentance

One of the biggest themes within the Bible is repentance; Jesus, from the beginning of His ministry on earth, was preaching repentance (Mat 4:17). But what does true repentance look like?

The word ‘repent” in Greek is metanoeō, it means “to change one's mind”, and “to think differently”. The WordStudy Dictionary also tells us repentance involves regret or sorrow, accompanied by a true change of heart toward God.

True repentance starts with a change in our mind, which will then lead to a change in our actions. Once our mind is renewed through understanding His word, we come to know the will of God and are able to walk in His plan and purpose for our lives.

Reprobate Mind
________

Why is it so important to seek the knowledge of God? “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient” (Rom 1:28).
Sin, unlike commonly believed, is not lying, cheating, or stealing. Sin is a lack of understanding truth; the actions we see and call sin, come from the lack of truth. If the word of God is truth, and He is also Truth, He has the ability to set people free in their minds (Jn 8:32). So why do so many struggle with this?
The word reprobate in the Greek is the word adokemos meaning: unapproved, worthless, and rejected according to the strong's dictionary definition. Rejecting knowledge makes us unapproved in the sight of the Lord.
