I really don’t get this! A on .com - everything is 10, they loved it, yet the overall rating they gave us is 8! No reason given, no suggestion what needs improving. And the only one that counts toward the total rating is, of course, the overall number! How can a host not go mad?

Well thanks to the Greens we’ve seen the establishment given a shake over the housing and rental crisis. But their response equates to same old same old ‘do nothing’ except help property developers.
No govt, federal state or territory has the fortitude to implement structural change to fix the root causes.
They keep fuelling property price increases while negative gearing costs $18.5B / yr and capital gains tax stays unchanged. F**kin insane

Wanted to put a little free on our property for our guests. We run an style . The problem is - so far, we had guests from 11 different countries, all speaking (and ) different languages and, although we all communicate in English, it is only with a healthy dose of smiling, arm waving, body writhing, pantomime, google translate and pen and paper. So, leaving English books in the library wouldn’t work. 🤔

Update on the water situation at Tara Woods apartments in Jonesboro: water was turned off for a day before the landlord paid part of the bill and water was turned back on again.

Now that Netflix has announced that it plans to shut down its DVD rental program (again) in Sept (apparently now for good), I thought I'd search to see if there are still any video rental stores in existence in the SFBA and found these 2 on Yelp:

I am an "8 DVD movie at a time" Netflix DVD renter and have been spoiled to get every new DVD as released (about 3 months following its 1st theatrical showing) for yrs.

For those of you like me, who do not like the limited and ephemeral offerings on streaming and who like to view the newest DVD releases as soon as they become available without buying them, video store rental is the only recourse.

I'm glad to see there are still a couple of video rental stores open & perhaps the death of the Netflix DVD rental program (which killed Blockbuster and other video rental stores when it started) will see a resurrance in video rentals.

I wonder what the threshold is for short term rentals on the market before over-saturation.
Not all the people who have properties for short term rental would be making money, nor would be able to have it rented out for as long as they could.
How many would be better off renting out as regular rentals vs short term. Especially given all the extra wear and tear a short term rental would add to the property vs a long term renter.

Maybe killing jobs and businesses by raising interest rates is not a good strategy 🤔

Other ways to tackle inflation:

* stop landlords from raising rents between tenants

* all out for building clean renewable energy (to tackle energy inflation & the climate crisis)

* build much more affordable, non-profit housing
