One of those jobs I've been putting off, the minor weep in the that triggers the leak alarm occasionally. Traced to some accumulated schmoo in the corner of a seal. Scrub with an old toothbrush and no more drip / E13 error. Hooray.

It does always depress me how many things aren't built to be serviced or . I wonder how many would be scrapped for a similar minor fault.

the in my last year. Kits from China on eBay are not expensive. Come with some, but not enough tools.

ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL is what I used to turn the glue to goo, rather than try and loosen it with a hot glue gun.
A butter knife also helped to push the glue out of the way to get the back off, and then gently get the battery out of the glue filled tray it lives in.

So update on my self it's been a couple of months and the repaired joycon is still working perfectly, so just proves if I can insert a small bit of cereal box cardboard into the joycon to fix drift then theirs no reason Nintendo couldn't fix the problem properly.
But also apparently you can get hall effect replacement joycons now from third parties that don't have this problem to begin with.
So sick of Nintendo's capitalist crap.

I am really pleased that I managed to repair my outdoor jacket: I fixed the pocket zip and put in an entirely new pocket.

The tools needed for this repair are a sewing machine and some pins and needles (and of course thread); (fabric) scissors; and pliers to fix the zip.

The skills needed are quite easy to learn: machine stitching and hand sewing, and some fabric cutting.

If, like me, you're not a pro, then you need some patience. I pin everything and then baste it before stitching or sewing, so there is a lot of basting thread to unpick. And a lot of loose ends to be tidied away.

The tricky thing with an outdoor jacket is that you can't sew through the outer layers as that would make them leaky. So you need to find a way to attach the new pocket to the inner layers.

I'm so happy to have my old favourite jacket! The zip was broken. I'm not good at , nor is it easy to change a whole . Luckily a colleague told me that I can buy to open! Just bring both end pins and the retaining box together (the stuff below on the zipper), insert the open slider, adjust, click shut, and done! Zipper and jacket are like new.
