This article about #degrowth focuses more than I've heard from other people about a shorter work week and more leisure time. That might be part of it, but I think a bigger focus is on #rebuilding, #reusing, #repairing, #sharing, and getting pleasure from things that don't need to be freshly made or cost bucks. And more than anything, it requires decoupling progress from gnp.

Fixing broken, malfunctioned or old electronic stuff, nowadays is a mandatory act. Any time we fix something we are elongating the usage and something new is not going to be sold; the user is happy; less new materials are going to be spoiled; your skills, knowledge and experience are going to increase.
It is a humble and silence #disobedience act against the endless greed of #capitalism; It's an act that cares about the #environment.

I'm after glue gun recommendations. For general #repairing things, a bit of #DIY and #crafts.

My very first #guitar. At some point I decided painting it green was a good idea (it wasn't). I also accidentally stood on it.

I've become much handier as I've got older, so I think I'll have a go at #repairing it.

This is the sort of thing I'd like #conservators and other craftspeople to embrace, be a part of, and shout about. We hate saying we repair or mend things but often that's EXACTLY what we do.

We could be a part of Repair Cafes and Fixing Factories. We could be a part of the push for sustainability, for reuse, for keeping things going. We could be useful and seen.

BBC News had a good feature article on the Fixing Factory in Camden, London, today but didn't include any links to other repair communities around the UK so I'll just mention that there are other repair centres available such as regular Repair Cafes (link below). In my area the local Men's Shed, which includes access for women (as some do some of the time), can often help with suitable repairs. Hackerspaces aren't only for making and will usually help members with repairs. I've also seen adult education courses aimed at teaching repair skills.

Seems to me there’s something important that underlies the perseverance and enthusiasm of farmers talking about #repairing their tractors:

Hopefulness is inherent in #repair, the foundation and fuel for problem-solving. To my mind, it’s the magic ingredient, it’s what resonates, and it’s what inspires. (a/k/a my brain recognizes micro-signals)

I tried applying light bleed fix to my #anbernic #rg351p (first 2 photos are not mine, I have the issue happening on the top and bottom of the first one, NOT like the left side)

Well.. it didn't fix it, the screen is like that and I see only on pure blacks 🤷‍♂️
