It's a cultural thing in Korea to make harsh comments on someone's physique. And not just that.
A very popular and entertaining #kDrama like #reply1988 also portrays this kind of honest rudeness.

Amei o casal Moo-sung e Sun-young. Fiquei chocada com os casais Sun-woo/Bo-ra e Deok-sun/Taek. Tinha 99,99% de certeza q a Deok-sun iria casar com Jung-hwal, a personalidade do marido (mais velho) era todinha dele no começo. 🤔

#Responde1988 (#Reply1988 #응답하라) foi uma verdadeira reflexão sobre juventude e sobre a importância das amizades na vida. Foi incrível acompanhar o convívio dos vizinhos q se tornaram uma grande família. 2 casais me surpreenderam!

Our daughter-in-law is Thai, I am Dutch pensionada.
We both like Kdrama, not always the same though.
She recommended Reply 1988 recently.

Beautiful in many ways, with superb acting of the whole cast, old and young.
D.i.L. is not really nostalgic to her motherland, but the Reply1988 brings up those childhood-memories realistic, not overdone and sugarcoated.

My generation in Holland remembers those 'hoods too.
They are not hot in West-film these days.
