"A senior military official familiar with previous meetings with Tuberville said that despite telling the senator about the real-world and personal challenges that his hold has created on servicemembers, Tuberville has not seemed willing to change his position."
Surely GOP leadership should be able to rein in one senator blocking military promotions over abortion? This is a choice.

H.B. 3058 will go into effect in Texas September 1: "It outlines two conditions where doctors can provide abortions: preterm premature rupture of membranes (the medical term for when someone's water breaks too early) and ectopic pregnancy (which happens when a fertilized egg implants somewhere besides the uterine lining)."

"...the closest abortion provider for Ashley would be in Chicago. At first, Regina thought she and Ashley could drive there. But it’s a nine-hour trip, and Regina would have to take off work. She’d have to pay for gas, food, and a place to stay for a couple of nights, not to mention the cost of the abortion itself. 'I don’t have the funds for all this,' she says.
So Ashley did what girls with no other options do: she did nothing."

"... one takeaway from a new Redfin survey of people who rent their home, are thinking about moving, or have recently moved. Respondents were much more likely to say that they wanted to live in a state where abortion and gender-affirming care were legal than not. But compared with those issues, they were twice as likely to cite housing costs as a major determinant of where they would live."

“I can’t prove that there was intent to deceive, but I struggled to find an alternative reason to present your data in such a way that exaggerates the magnitude,” Adkins said. “They’re misrepresenting its conclusions to begin with. That’s my frustration with this whole process.”

"Plaintiffs' attorney Hawley, who is married to Sen. Josh Hawley, the Republican from Missouri, argued that physicians who oppose abortion would be facing a moral injury if they had to care for a woman who had a complication after taking mifepristone."
I suffer from moral injury knowing we have the tools to provide safe healthcare for pregnant people, but extremist politicians are preventing health professionals from using them.

"Last year, the state filed a federal lawsuit claiming Planned Parenthood improperly billed Medicaid for $10 million in payments during the period when the state was trying to remove the organization from the program...Planned Parenthood has called the lawsuit meritless, pointing out that there was an injunction in place that allowed it to continue to bill Medicaid during that time."

"April Valentine, a 31-year-old Black mother, died while giving birth in Inglewood, California, on January 10. Her family has raised questions of improper care: Why didn’t nurses investigate numbness and swelling in her leg, symptoms she reported at least 10 times over the course of 15 hours? Why did it take nearly 20 hours for her doctor to see her after she arrived at the hospital already in labor?"

Ohio, vote NO on issue 1. Republicans are trying to require petitioners to gather signatures from 5% of eligible voters in each of Ohio’s 88 counties, instead of the current 44, to get an initiative on the ballot. Issue 1 also would require a 60% majority to pass the initiative.
In other words, Ohio Republicans are making it harder to get an abortion rights measure on this November's ballot and raising the bar for it to pass.

"A hastily called summer special election over a Republican-pushed measure that would make it harder for Ohio voters to pass future constitutional amendments, including one on the November ballot to guarantee abortion rights, has driven off-the-charts early turnout before Tues’s final day of voting.
Early turnout has been so heavy that some election offices are straining to manage the load and trying to recruit additional poll workers."
