Pets are rare. Some of the ocean going residents probably have cats and dogs, but on the Himalayan peninsula, most of them would've been eaten.

If anyone has "pets" it's Sergei, whose propensity for leaving a lot of recently dead bodies around attracts the vultures. He will refer to them as "my birds' as in, "I will feed you to my birds."

Kiryanova was a late addition but she has a very strange effect of being probably the least evil and destructive of all the characters, and yet doesn't end up being victimized by any of them. They all sort of respect her status as the last citizen, even Sergei, who by his nature has to get in her space and intimidate her, but also protects her..in his very fucked up way.

Sometimes it's a challenge writing a couple on an ongoing basis, especially one I put through as much as these two, but I always really liked the idea that Delaware braiding Rachel's hair is a touchstone for them. It's his way of dressing her in armour, of honouring a formidable woman, but also comforting her.

Boosting this to add to the next step. I'm using a different photograph of the same actor (Aaron Pierre), and will join them at some point. In this view, I've basically sculpted a sketch by using a combo of brush, eraser, sometimes resize. All hand drawn on a med wacom intuos.

It's deliberately rough and not totally proportionate, b/c I don't want to over-render before I switch to colour. I'll lay the lighting scheme over the body once I get there.
