The journey from Hamburg to Århus went smooth. Århus is a well known place for The Vogt, and seeing the town hall again was a joy. On one of the walls is a relief of the Danish astronomer Ole Rømer (1644-1710) by Olaf Stæhr-Nielsen. In 1676 Rømer made the first measurement of the speed of light. Rømer also invented the modern thermometer showing the temperature between two fixed points (water boiling/freezing).

The #VijaCelmins + #GerhardRichter mix at #HamburgerKunsthalle was another highlight on this journey. Works chosen for the exhibition #DoubleVision interact very well, and accompanying texts neatly provide context and insight.

On a street market I came across 7" vinyl by #HildegardKnef and #MarleneDietrich. Brilliant souvenirs. If scratches turn out to be brutal I'll just spin the turntable while streaming the music!

Just awesome: "Fortschritt als Versprechen. Industriefotografie im geteilten Deutschland"/"Progress as a Promise. Industrial Photography in Divided Germany". Large exhibition at #DeutschesHistorischesMuseum. Throwing light over industrial history, photo history, media history, cultural history and political history through detailed contextualizing.The Vogt was overwhelmed and impressed.

A looong walk across Tempelhofer Feld, including a picnic in a chilly wind, all in all two hours. Later a not so long visit to the Technikmuseum, where a Japanese spider crab holds a prominent position in a sugar exhibition: the sugar compound chitin is a crucial part of the crab's exoskeleton.

Following up first measuring of The Vogt's weight reveals that a critical comment on the method was well placed: The Vogt is as heavy as 6 grams!

Uncomfortably hot, but still a great day, peaking at the Tempelhofer Feld park, both in degrees celsius and excitement. And stumbling over a still working dragon faced water pump near the Rote Rathaus provides not only (undrinkable) water but also a memorable moment.

First day exploring Berlin included closer looks at the four allegories by the Royal Armoury entrance, and buildings at Alexanderplatz - except the Fernsehturm (yet to come). Reading rooms at Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz remain white spots on the map, due to vague information and lack of coins for the lockers. The exhibition "Nach der Natur"/"After Nature" at #HumboldtForum caused some brain staking efforts too.

The Laurie Anderson exhibition "Looking into a mirror sideways" at Moderna Museet/Modern Art Museum in Stockholm blew me halfway to the moon. I am only modestly acquainted with her work, but got hooked, and leaving the Swedish capital I wish for more. Thus we stand at the end of the night train to Berlin, and look back at this freshly generated memory.

A highlight in Göteborg/Gothenburg today was the exhibition Nordiskt Mode Nu, Stickat och tryck / Nordic Fashion Now, Knitwear and print at #Röhsska including the work Contrabandits by the collaboration #ElinaHeilanen, #AleksandraHellberg, #CamillaNaukkarinen and #NooraVihervirta. Garment decorations made by using the classic photograpy technique #cyanotype. Now heading for Stockholm, changing driving direction again!

It's been a few years since #TheVogt was out on a long train expedition, you know, the pandemic. These photos are from the ferry leaving Norway's constitution day. Entered Sweden in Strömstad, then opening the paper printed interrail ticket, heading for Göteborg. The conductor hadn't seen that kind of ticket before, now it is all apped, on screen. But the printed version will fit an album better.
