Read how @GenevievMichaud, and , enjoys conversations with @allysonlister & the team (we enjoy them too!); her benefits are exactly what we hope our Champions will gain: curation expertise, visibility, flexible volunteering & broadening networks

of my research leave started early and was put to a temporary halt by a migraine. Yay... at least I can see again, but I am not sure this will be a productive day.
Today I had planned to create a post-factum data management plan that will consider the previous lack of proper data management and build on some lessons learnt.

research leave: Concluding today with a blog post about my continuing struggles with poorly managed data and transcriptions of all kinds of stuff, among other things, a satirical adaptation of the , the so-called -Kunst from 1648 and 1656. Enjoy: greflinger.hypotheses.org/668

@tillgrallert So, I tried it out with one of the more complex files, and it did not result in a useable SVG: one OPML resulted in 5 SVGs that were empty. I tried several programs that can read SVGs. I will do another try with a less complex diagram and see if it works.

ends with another blog post right before I must leave: greflinger.hypotheses.org/614. Read about today's digressions and contemplations, about a Bavarian kinky bibliophile, and even more kinky file formats and how to deal with them safely!

Update on the .scap files. I downloaded the trial version of Scapple so I could open the files. They all contain interactive versions of the . I have all of these also as static images in PNG and PDF formats. But they are not editable. Investigating export formats from Scapple, none are useful for me. The OPML format (an XML variant) cannot be imported by drawing tools like draw.io.

Large files, 55MB each, high-quality .tif. I don't know where I downloaded them from or what for. The names don't ring any bells. 🤔

of my research leave: Back to wrangling all my files, I spent the last hour re-naming scans of title pages of prints I used for my publication. For future me, I have not only normalised the filenames but created a little schema for naming scans, digital photos etc., of archival materials, manuscripts and rare books. With this structure, I can avoid deeply nested directories, too. Perhaps useful?!
