2️⃣ 🌱 Working with Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs / Defra digital, data and technology on a project looking at waste reduction and the #CircularEconomy.

After finishing a project with a ⚡️ major multinational company where I helped put in place some foundational ⚙️ #ResearchOps structures and processes - I’m now looking for my next #Contract role.

I've noticed on a few recent #ResearchOps related projects with clients—when reviewing 🔀 process flows—they often don't include decision 🔛 gates.

The stages in the #Research process where a Go/No Go/Defer decision can be made to ensure the research is still of value.

Knowing when not to conduct research is as important as knowing when it is essential.

Another few days on-site with a client delivering training, mentoring and #UX #Research Team support as part of a #ResearchOps project.

Always good to work with new people but, as always, happy to be returning 🏡 home to #Yorkshire. 🙂

I find it so striking to look side-by-side at User Interviews's #UXResearch Tools Maps from 2019, 2020, & 2021 📈

There's been noticeable growth in the UXR tools landscape over the past 3 years, w/ the introduction (& evolution) of robust, purpose-built solutions.

This year, there were so many new tools that we had to radically (& I mean ✨radically✨) re-design the map to fit them all!

Tl;dr: my hot take 🔥 is that VC-backed walled-garden research platforms are unsustainable places to park critical knowledge, and ultimately foreclose opportunities to collectively advance our crafts of research and operations. BUT researchers + ReOps practitioners are in the right place at the right time to push software companies towards a future of openness & interoperability.
