I wondered whether we actually need to make a distinction between published papers and preprints? I personally treat them, and potential associated threads, as equal and most people I know do so, too.
(Out of good practice, I obviously check for changes after a preprint gets published).
A preprint is also kind of a paper, no? So and might do? Others suggested to drop the "thread" part, and not separate anything, so in the end we might end up with ... Allthough, I also like the idea to separate publication anouncements from "paper threads"!

I like the idea of including "paper" and "thread" on tags to distinguish between them.

Also, in my understanding preprints include a short of prior research, thus, the it seems to me an unnecessary long tag.

Instead, I would go for and for unpublished work/share ideas and and for published ones
