My husband and I have been together for 31 years (we met long before same-sex marriage was legal in the USA), and we live with our beloved 13-year-old Bichon Frise. We are also an interracial couple. I’m glad that the text of this law mentions the “love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family” that is at the heart of our relationship. 🏳️‍🌈

Throwing something as portable as a right to #marriage BACK to the states to decide is so messed up I cant even. So, “Good luck people in red states”? #Gay, #trans & #Queer people in red states STILL live without a right to be served by a business. Passage of the #respectformarriage act was a sad day for those of us who would have no rights at all of it we’re not for federal intervention.

@GAPoliticalJunkie The #respectformarriage act is nice, but it's also a half-measure.

If your child is still living in Georgia, it is almost 100% certain they will need to go to another state to marry a same-sex partner. And that's not equality.

Looks like the House did the right thing and hustled the #RespectForMarriage act through. On to Biden now for the formality.

While we SHOULD NOT need this legislation at all, I'll take it.
