For the readers, allow me to clarify that the use of acute hospitalizations as a signal is a 2-4 week trailing indicator, so it's been underway now from an infection perspective for a few weeks.

Sadly, I found the #Moldex8000 #respirator #mask too uncomfortable after an hour or so. To get a good seal to my face, I had to tighten both straps hard, which made it press on the bridge of my nose. The pressure became intolerable after a while. Someone with a wider face or less prominent nose bridge may not have these issues. Plus points: head straps more comfortable and easier to don than #GVSElipse, breathability reasonable.

Why does a respirator trigger such hostility in at least some of the non #COVID cautious?

There's the obvious:
* It's a reminder of the pandemic
* Breaks the myth that no one is careful

But another theory occurred to me, that the careless perceive the respirator as a mark of danger, and as the messenger of that danger, attack them, conflating the danger with the wearer.

@colorblindcowboy (Came across your post while looking for #mask recommendations) My spouse and I have worn #Airgami since 2021 bc they fit well, and are super light + comfortable. Recently wore one for traveling (plane, train x 4; 19+hr altogether; and again in reverse), so slept for a few hours wearing it too. But could smell wildfire smoke thru mine (when #AQI was >300), so am now looking for a small #N100 or #P100 #respirator as well.

While Envo #respirator #masks seem convenient-enough, the recommendation against reuse and their price per filter isn't amazing.

To my understanding, P100s have no such reuse limitation and so seem like better value for the price.

I can’t help but feel a sense of betrayal that my mom seems to have flipped to the “we have to learn to live with the pandemic” side—she loves being involved in community theater & is perfectly willing to forego #COVID precautions she takes otherwise (wearing a #respirator, #WFH) to justify being involved in performances.

Somehow she managed not to get sick last round (March). But soon they’ll be performing 12 times over 3 weeks, from end of May to early June.
