I think a lot of people think daylight savings time will give them more time to enjoy themselves at the end of the day and reverse the stresses of work, etc. Really we just need to rest, to do nothing to get in touch with our own body's rhythm and the rhythms of nature.
Tweeking our clocks is a capitalist response to the fact we are over producing and over consuming and we just don't have time to live. Living is equated with doing or purchasing. That's wrong. Many are stressed out and end up harming themselves or others.
I like the Islamic idea of our time being set by the position of the sun at the particular location on Earth. That idea humbles us under creation. Modern humans need to slow down and let the world go 'round. We are not Atlas that we have to carry the world on our shoulders.

It's tempting to pretend I'm out and use that time to catch up on grading but I will not. I am tired, and I already have so many hours 'in the bank' that if I don't start reclaiming them I'll lose them.
