Since I need some time for myself for family reasons, I'm gonna start by meanwhile casually and slowly retooting everything occasionally in small amounts here until everything is on this account and I can continue on better grounds.

@raccoonformality Hi I’m a user of Mastodon since 2018 who left and came back. I’m trying to understand the concern about #ReTooting or QT’ing. You feel this is bad because why? That it encourages people to be less civil to each other? Are you saying you would rather have people reply to a post rather than comment on a post? I’m just trying to understand this issue/ discussion.

Following up on @simon here, not having one inbuilt #algorithm in #Mastodon for proposing stuff seems like a great opportunity to enable this in a decentralised way: crawling accounts, analyzing toots, relationships, etc.

But then not force-feeding this to people through their timeline, but rather offering curated, domain-specific bot accounts #ReTooting good content and accounts to follow to whomever is interested.

@esdin important to know is that 'boosting' is a different word for 'reblog' (should it be called #retooting?) -- some apps show it as reblogging, the web UI shows it as 'boost'
