When composing, I often start out with piano-only sketches of melody ideas. The ones that stick with me get extrapolated into a full song. The end result can have quite a different mood compared to the original sketch. For one of the tracks in Magicore Anomala, here is a side-by-side comparing the original sketch to the final track. managed to get some #retrogamedev done on the amstrad last night and got my timers working properly.
its on my itch page (https://terlan.itch.io/easy-as-123) as a CDT if anyone wants a shot.
its easy all you need to do is answer 1 2 or 3 to simple sum of the numbers 1, 2 & 3 before the timer runs out and get the highest score you can. the timer gets progressively shorter the more you score.
there are other versions too.

Well would you look at that..it only bloody worked.
The red border is flashing ed then black as timer has went below three seconds. I like that you can do that with a single command.
Sounds still a mystery. Really want a wee tick for the timer that speeds up as it gets closer to zero. Maybe play with that tomorrow night.
Once i manage to figure out how to convert the wav to cdt, I'll share it in case anyone wants a go.

So took little break from z80 and went back to basics. Literally. I took the zx spectrum basic listing for my easy as 1 2 3 game i originally made using gamemaker 1.4, and had a look at converting it to amstrad cpc basic.
So i grabbed a couple of cpc basic books from internet archive and gave them a read as i wasnt really familiar with cpc basic. I got the cpc manual and doctor watson starting basic book 1 & 2. armed with them i got to work

no I have the big dilema. do I learn z80 assembly I've been trying to learn (trying do a lot of work there) to make wee games on the cpc. or, do I jump ship to the amiga, and the fun that is AMOS and 68000 assembly.

RX.py (https://gitlab.com/pvmm/rx.py) is a Python script that prepares images for rendering them on the MSX2 blitter using this method described by Laurens Holst. It can be quite efficient compressing images rich in flat polygons, replacing the original image by a bunch of line segments (which are both easy to store and draw) and recreate the original image using the MSX2 hardware blitter (which is relatively fast). #msx2 #gamedev #retrogamedev #hardwareAcceleration #v9938
