okay so I don't know if this will come about, but in the future i might want to livetoot on an old, non-smart phone. it doesn't have wifi. but i do have cellular data and limited web 1.0 access (HTTPS-only sites give errors).

so, a couple questions for #retrocomputing / #retrotelephony (?) folks:

1) is there, or COULD there be, a way to text to Mastodon? ideally for free? doesn't need to be a gazillion characters or get notifs or anything fancy. just to post.

2) i'm sure this is elementary web stuff, but is there a way to host brutaldon (https://brutaldon.org) without HTTPS / #SSL? is this something i should ask about on their git repo?

Well I haven’t seen one of these for awhile in the wild. Unfortunately it’s out of service. Maybe their provider is @shadytel, which would make its uptime far less surprising.
