Webtoons (or mobile vertical web comics) have taken the wold by storm. They are 18 years old (in Korea), yet have been exploding lately. Here are my top-picks from the ones I read in 2022. All of those are still ongoing. Most are available on Naver's platform #WebToon.
Genre: Isekai
This one is easily one of the top webtoons right now, and you can find references to it everywhere. Great art and great scenario, it's adapted from a light novel.
Synopsis: The hero is the only reader to finish a fantasy light novel after 10 years of publication. As he finishes, his world changes to become like the one in the novel. But he already knows the end.
Genre: Fantasy action second chance
This one replaced omniscient reader in my weekly paid chapters rotation, up until the end of the first season.
I was a bit hesitant, but it has great art and is well written.
Synopsis: The hero dies, almost beating the god responsible for his world's end. He is sent in the past and given a second chance, keeping only his knowledge.
Genre: Second chance fantasy martial arts
This one finally replaced Doom Breaker in my weekly paid chapters rotation. It's fun and over the top.
Synopsis: the hero dies after killing a daemon that was taking over his world. He is given a second chance in a young boy's body 100 years later, but discovers his martial art clan in ruins, and will try to help make it shine again.
