There are #kakapo living in the wild in the North Island of Aotearoa for the first time in a century. We released four into Maungatautari Sanctuary Mountain last week.
Over the coming years we'll assess whether this 3200 hectare fenced sanctuary could once again hold a breeding population. #conservation #returnofthekakapo https://www.doc.govt.nz/kakapo-translocation
