The first time I had to google instructions 😀 playing Return to Monkey Island, I couldn't figure out how to get out of the caves! Hint book didn't seem to have a question related to that, so I googled.

Around now the sun starts setting most majestically, and I visit the sea, and the music from #MonkeyIsland gets in my head.

So I started replaying #ReturnToMonkeyIsland. And it’s just so so good. This time I’m playing it floppy-diskette-style, with subs and no spoken dialogue. And while it’s borderline criminal to play without hearing the incredible voice acting, the emphasis moves to the beautiful soundtrack, and the text. The writing! Gilbert/Grossman’s comic writing is just the best.

The Brrr Muda castle exterior's musical motif in #ReturnToMonkeyIsland is a quotation of the overture to Wagner's Tannhäuser: an opera about a knight who has lived in the sensual underground dream-world of the goddess Venus, but chooses to leave it and return to the surface world of mortals.
