Return to Oz (2019)

In this movie Dorothy and a boy names Tim land in Oz. The movie takes place in different locations at the same time, is a sequel of another movie with different characters that claim to be similar to the ones in the original books. Tlde all over the place

To make more confusing is a title which was used by other Oz movies and a poster that reminds of the MGM movie. (They use silver slippers in this movie though)

The thing they misunderstand about #ReturntoOz is that is was a bridge, from the characterizations in the 1939 musical to the story and spirit of the books (which it's clear they never read). Where the musical was a drastic departure from the books, Return literally returns to the source material and attempts to do it justice. It bugs me that they keep on referring to it as a remake. Return to Oz was a redress, and an admirable one.

The title is clickbaity. However, the vid actual defends the nightmare. And the film itself. Noting that this movie resembles the tone of the books far more than any other adaptation.

I love the #OZ books, especially the illustrations. If you are an odd kid, or have an odd kid, start up on the original texts. It's a trip, and a fun story, w/ great characters. And watch this movie too.

Met de oudste van mijn ex-vriendin en mijn kinderen naar #TheWizardOfOz met #JudyGarland gekeken. Super avond gisteren.
Disney kocht de rechten en had al een vervolgfilm #TheRainbowroadToOz die nooit uitgebracht is maar wel gelanceerd werd in 1957 als de nieuwste hit met de titelsong al uitgebracht.
Nu vandaag het vervolg uit 1985 #ReturnToOz' van #Disney gekeken, die verder gaat op de Oz Novels. En deze belooft meer nachtmerries 😱🫤.
