A big part of the demand that we #ReturnToWork in the office rather than #WorkFromHome is, I think, the realization of some people during #covid isolation that they really didn't like their families. And so many parents were abandoned to care for their kids alone during the #pandemic. It could have been a chance for us to re-envision community care and collectivity rather than the isolation of the #NuclearFamily. Instead we're doubling down on that, though it seems to make most people miserable

It's sad that a bonus of working for a multinational Asian company is that the big CEO actually acknowledges the COVID pandemic both exists and is still happening (and continues impacting the world).

I feel like the American officers of the company would be going full "the pandemic ended last year" if they were allowed to. I know a couple managers up the chain from me never "believed" in any pandemic precautions in the first place. Which feels great as a chronically ill disabled person.

That said, the big CEO is really emphasizing in-person connection at this point, while local leadership is team "respect antimasker's personal choice to spread illness at the office" so we'll see how that shakes out. I thankfully have a very in demand skill set so I think I'll be long gone by the time they get serious about cracking down on IT's refusal to return to the office. Along with lots of my collegues.
