Today's #crochet project is this bag. It's made from leftover yarn from a blanket I made.

Tomorrow I'll be making the strap for it. I'm going to use it to keep my clothes pegs in, as the last one I made (from left over material from curtains I'd adapted when we moved house) about 20 years ago is finally falling to pieces.

Was dus big shopper vol!

Somebody is doing a large renovation and threw away a lot of old chopped up furniture. So what did stfn do? Sneaked up to the garbage place with a cordless drill and took the L brackets and all that stuff. Those are perfect to build a #compost box. And won’t go to a landfill. You can register as a regular producer of any particular kind of trash; pringle cans or kitty litter jugs for example.

Then people who need those can find you, and arrange pickup of a certain number of those items from you.

Testing my new laser power meter with another ‘rescue’ from a scrapped CD drive. Scavenging laser diodes leaves a lot of ‘debris’.. 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

It’s an infrared laser so I can’t see it (besides a minor glow of deep red), but my phone camera shows it as an eerie purple tone with the characteristic speckle-pattern.

The power meter? It has an absolutely massive thermopile sensor, no wonder it’s quite heavy 🙂 I don’t know much about it’s absolute accuracy, but I think it’ll be ok for my experimental (hobbyist) use.

The lasediode produces some 50mW power at 100mA current, which isn’t uncommon so be careful when playing with invisible light ☝🏻🚨
