A good example is the shit that #Apple does and everyone copies:

There is no rational reason except making #repair and #upgrades uneconomically and more costly than "#JustBuyANewOne!"

Here are things I look for, in approx order of importance:
- very leakproof
- not too big (max 350 ml)
- easy-clean… especially the lid
- metal body; plastic lid
- fairly slim (max 7.5 cm diameter)
- dishwasher safe
- well insulated
- nice colours, but no fussy patterns
