I've been taking a #digitaltwin or #sustainable building technology course for 7 weeks, and this week is the final week of it. It was so tiring to travel to another city every morning and head back home every evening (at least for 2 weeks), but it was/is also a great time. When/where would I try modelling in #Revit and start #VisualBasic and #Python unless now, unless I weren't occupied with something else such as WORK!

I asked my wife for a small ruler to measure some photos.

Surprise! She pulled a #Revit tchotchke out of a drawer. I musta bought these in the old Revit Technology. But I do not remember why we did.

I was dumbstruck. It's astonishing how unexpected objects take you back.

Dynamo. I've totally re-written the page for #Dynamo (that mostly #Revit node based programming tool) on the #OSArch wiki.

I'd like some checks of the terminology. I'm a bit unclear about the licensing differences between Dynamo Player, Dynamo Sandbox ( #opensource ?) and Dynamo Studio (which I'm sure is proprietary).

Our software directory includes #libresoftware addins to proprietary software. Just added is "Import Export Excel" for #Revit. While we don't endorse using Revit this isn't a choice for all #AEC #BIM specialists. This tool is useful.

For a very brief time in history of #SketchUp, I was convinced that the world of #Architecture was going to see big changes. All that was required was that #Google turn the team into a nonprofit and the software into open source.

We didn't get any of that. We got Trimble and subscriptions.

I have lost all hope for the industry. #Revit and the whole parametric modeling paradigm is really shit. And Trimble is pushing SU towards full on shit.

Feeling nostalgic: our condo is under construction. On request, the architect sent me construction documents done, she assures me, in #Revit. Mostly, I don't know what I am looking at. But they look great...and I remember when producing CDs in #Revit was a far-off goal.

Apart from a bit of CSS and HTML a *very* long time ago, I’ve never done any #coding, but I’m interested in teaching myself some basics. If anyone who has an idea about where a complete noob should start, I’m open to suggestions. My best guess is something that I could use in either #Revit or #UnrealEngine, so I’m leaning towards #Python.

Anyone have any good ideas where to start (or other languages)?
