In tonight's viewing of Empire Records, we watched the fan edit that crams in a bunch of footage that was edited out.

Almost all of those edits were good cuts; the theatrical release is absolutely superior. But it is interesting seeing the shots and scenes that fill in little details that go otherwise unexplained.

Interestingly, one of those "restored" scenes places Corey (and presumably Gina) in the college graduating class of 1999—which makes them the exact same age as me.
