I decided to get the simplest one out of the way. A little blocking on my #ReynaKAL and it's my first of my #FallFinishAlong_FOs
It really took two MALs to get this done. Thank you to the lovely cat herders :blobcathearthug:

Here's everything I intend to complete for the #fallfinishalong:
1. Three and a half rounds and the crochet bind off left on my Niebling
2. Another shortie sock to make a pair
3. #ReynaKAL to block
4. Sleeve of a test knit pullover
I'd also like to get two other nearly-complete but long-hibernating cardigans done. They'll wait until these four are ticked off the list.
Thank you @consumableJoy for your hard work in putting this all together 🥰

My modified #ReynaKAL shawl is almost done. I just need to work in the ends and block it.
An added benefit to having to unravel and bind off earlier is that I saw that it was curling badly. (I’m not used to lace doing that.) I noted that my garter stitch rows are tighter than my lace, so I went up a needle size for the final three garter rows and bind off. It’s not a cure, but it helped.

@consumableJoy This sounds perfect! I have three things I would like to finish before December. My #ReynaKAL (whoops), a test knit sweater, and a doily.
Approaching the finish line of my #ReynaKAL shawl!
Three more rows of plain knitting and then a bind-off row. Will I have enough yarn? Let’s find out!
(I’m perfectly content to unravel far enough to make it work out. It’s just more knitting. I like knitting, and I’m not on a deadline.)

#FiberArtCamp WIP Wednesday, part 2
I have a few #knitting WIPs right now.
One is an 11-year old sweater, stalled in the waist-to-bust transition section because the pattern writing is unclear. I should write the designer and get some help.
Another is more recent: a pi shawl I'm designing which has hit a snag in the Section D lace patterning. The nupped sections on the third row keep unraveling themselves, so I set it aside for a cooling period.
I also have the current #ReynaKAL.

I have too many WIPs to list them all.
The two in most frequent rotation right now:
1. My #ReynaKAL shawl (pattern modified to make it a V). I’m working on the fourth mesh stripe and I think I’m going to be playing yarn chicken. I can’t get a good current photo, but there’s an earlier shot from when it was smaller here:

2. I’m making a bag out of a pair of worn out cargo shorts. Current progress in photo. Next up: lining and top flaps.

The #knitting project I really want to work on has a problem that I've not been able to fix yet. Rather than work it out this week, when I really needed calming knitting, I started another Reyna. This one's a stashbuster because it uses up some yarn I set aside for another purpose many years ago, before I understood that what I planned to do with the yarn was a Bad Idea.
So really, I'm redeeming the yarn by starting this belated #ReynaKAL.
Yarn chicken, but thought it should be enough. It was. (I had put a slipknot in the middle of the leftover yarn, and reached the knot at the middle of the bindoff)
Finished shawl is not yet blocked. If the bindoff isn't too tight (blocking will show) the wingspan is roughly 175-180 cm.
Late to the party, but needed some meeting knitting, so decided to join the #ReynaKAL with some very old Fleece Artist Nyoni that I've had approximately forever. I'm enjoying its rainbowness. I'm thinking of a smallish scarf, so currently considering stopping after row 104, but we'll see. This is after row 62. #knitting
Finished! After blocking my #ReynaKal now falls comfortably round my shoulders, the central tassel hangs past my waist. The colour is impossible to capture with my phone, the silk sheen from the yarn dilutes the richness of the dyes. Now back to the socks I put aside to complete this one... #knitting
@Johannab oh that is so nice!
actually a couple of knitters on here are doing a KAL right now... some are finishing the #ReynaKal and/or are working on the #PsychedelicaKal.
@morningsky027 I can finally see the point fully formed. Very happy with the result. #ReynaKal #knitting
Nearing the end, time for a #ReynaKal update: after the last wide mesh section I alternated 4r of garter and 2r of mesh a couple of times, but now it's time to cast off before I run out of yarn (7g). I tried a sample strip with picot edge cast off which did not go well so I'll stick to the lace cast off as suggested. #knitting
#ReynaKAL finished. The color isn't very accurate in this photo -- it's blocking in a room with very yellow light.
I did an extra ridge of garter at the bottom to help with the curling / flipping, but it wasn't enough. I think it'll be an interesting textural flourish instead of a problem, though.
My cat assures me that it's a very comfy bed already. Blocking is one of the many human endeavours where cat help is cruelly under-appreciated.
IT IS DONE!!! OK, so sorry for shouting, but oh my dog am I happy it's over. Last night I rage-knitted the last few rows and did the bind-off even though it was two hours past bedtime. My hands were in full claw mode, I couldn't even get my fingers to straighten without forcibly bending them against the table. Just gotta block the shawl now and I think I'm gonna add some tassels in the corners too because, in my humble opinion, tassels are the tits.

Finished! #ReynaKal
Not blocked yet... because directly confiscated by my toddler.
I added an extra garter section, plus eight rows of the mesh section, after which I did the border as described by the pattern.
Next step is to dye it to colours that are more to my liking. I'm intending to try using turmeric and see what it yields.
What I call Rudimentary Blocking: Wet down, squeeze (don’t wring) dry, squeeze some more while wrapped in a bath towel (the knitting, not me), spread out on a flat surface and pull and pat into shape. Leave the room, closing the door to keep the cats out. Let it dry. #ReynaKAL #knitting
