Unzip and look in the Historical Archives folder. Take any of the patches there up to v3.4 and try them in Mesen. Before doing so, make sure Mesen is configured to start up in a randomized state instead of initializing RAM with 0s or 1s.
Now start the game and look at the timer 😅
This will be fixed when v4.5 is released.
