Out to see the big redwood trees on a new trail! This one starts off in old growth, but then climbs through thinning big trees and into an old clear cut that isn't that old. They're still a lot nicer than what you'll find on the other side of the ridge where logging continues to this day. (Less than 5% of the old trees remain.)

Years ago I owned a property with over 100 varieties of #rhododendrons. We moved to a place with no shade. This one thrives on the east side of the house. It is a bit unusual bevause the new leave's emerge before the flowers. "Vulcan's Flame" (We have azaleas and some shade now) #gardening @gardening

A cluster of various #maple trees on the slope up to the main house at the Jenkins Estate in #Beaverton, #Oregon. The estate was built in the early 1900s, and I imagine these maples were planted just afterwards. The estate has an extensive garden with lots of mature #Rhododendrons and many other plants in bloom. Well worth a visit and walk along the meandering trails.
