Here we defined the light harvesting mechanism of red coralline algae - a habitat-forming marine seaweed. We found a 95% energy transfer efficiency through the phycobilisome via two transfer pathways, and our lab experiments showed that mesophotic light intensities induce a strong acclimatory response.
Spectral composition (the light colour) is less important for acclimation🌈
