"As Mel Brooks once said to his writers on Blazing Saddles, which is a great film, 'Write anything you want, because we'll never be heard from again. We will all be arrested for this movie.'" β€” Barack Obama

Blazing Saddles is a 1974 movie directed by Mel Brooks. Brooks was aided by four other writers, including comedian Richard Pryor, in an unusually chaotic screenwriting process. The film has often been misunderstood by critics, for example as a simple burlesque, but it has also been an audience favorite. Despite its broad and vulgar humor, frequent sight gags, and use of racist slurs, Blazing Saddles does have a serious message, and it expresses the message by subverting and breaking things: the western film genre, , expectations, time and the fourth wall.

Whenever shows up...it's not Frederick Douglas or MLK or Hank Aaron that cones to my warped mind...it's or that comes to mind.
They pioneered insertion of a Black world into American society in a way no others could.

In 1985, bet 100k that he could not sing… then, his single β€œParty All The Time” went on to sell over a million copies 🀯

January 18th- Filmed in Michigan

Blue Collar (1978)
directed by Paul Schrader

Incredibly contentious shoot that was so stressful for director Schrader that he ended up quitting the biz for awhile afterwards. The auto plant scenes were shot at the Checker Cab plant in Kalamazoo, MI.

@btanderson That's an amazing jam. Thanks for the !πŸ˜‚ Yeah, I never could really carry a tune but fool myself into thinking I sound great in the shower.

Sorry to digress, but your falsetto joke reminded me of 's classic line "You had to sing or something to ___ ____ _____" LMAO!

If you haven't heard that sketch, google "Have your A$$ Home by 11:00" later (πŸ”žNSFW😬)

Whenever Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor were on a screen together, you could count on something funny happening. The late Wilder once talked to us about how that magic happened with Pryor.

PRYOR: Oh, I never saw him do anything KIND.
BERLE: You mean for YOUR kind.

God how I remember this one! Mike didn't know πŸŽ‚ had a history w/ unfunny Uncle Miltie. Know why?
(Pryor was reliably funny because the joke was usually on him.)
