The Incredible Melting Man is an odd duck.

It’s director shot it as a comedy with homages to previous horror movies but then the producers told him to make it a serious horror with reshoots.

Some scenes or shots come off as comedy like the loooong slow motion shot in the beginning of the nurse running and screaming down the hall and crashing through the glass door as if she were Sally at the end of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Oh, and the old couple stealing lemons is quite funny. But then you get a sadly melting mad eating his victims.

If anything, this film will always be remembered for Rick Baker’s amazingly gore FX and a scene with Janus Blythe (Hills Have Eyes 1 & 2) and Jonathan Demme (famed director) over acting into oblivion.
