罗得西亚脊背犬是全能猎犬，脊背上倒着生长的毛是它们的独特标志。这条倒毛在脊背上形成了一道很酷的深色线条，你一定不会认错。罗得西亚脊背犬非常强健，体重可以达到32-40公斤。脊背犬有漂亮的头，眉眼之间还有智慧的褶子。它们只有一种颜色，麦色，各种深浅的麦色，从略欠苍白的微黄到深深的棕黄。鼻子一般都是黑色的，但肝色也是可以接受的。
脊背犬来自南非，强壮，敏捷，迅速，擅于在大型动物的围捕中追踪，报信（hound baying，是一种独特的拉长的吠叫，专门用来和猎人交流的讯号），比如非洲水牛，角马，甚至狮子。但它们并不用于猎杀动物，只是帮助定位和追踪。它们的性格非常独立，有着很强的捕猎本能（意味着，遛狗时最好不要在没有围栏的产地撒开绳子），自己想好的事情一意孤行。所以一定要从puppy时期谆谆教导！长大了就很难再去控制了。但除了执着于打猎，它们非常非常爱自己的家人，也能够忍耐孩子。脊背犬对陌生人有一些戒备，可以用来看家。
总体来说，独立的性格，强烈的捕猎本能，结实有力又迅速的运动员体型，大量的训练需求，罗得西亚脊背不适合新手主人去养哦

We love animals and our home has always been shared with a few at any given time. Dogs, cats, tropical fish and at one point we had chickens too.
We got a pair of collies not long after we got together and they had a long and happy life with us. After that, we found a couple of Lab crosses. We lost Murphy a couple of years ago and got Maya, a Ridgeback cross, to keep Rufus company.

Here's Astra, a Rhodesian #ridgeback and also a rescue dog, but with a far less troubled history – her owners split up and she came to us via RidgebackRescue. She likes eating, sleeping and running around with Flash and while she's adorable she's also quite the stupidest dog I've ever met. She broke my leg a few years ago by running into me at full speed because she simply wasn't looking where she was going. She was looking at Flash instead.
